Yunnan Province: Yunnan is a province in southwestern China known for its stunning natural landscapes, diverse ethnic cultures, and rich history. It's often referred to as the "Land of Eternal Spring" due to its mild climate year-round. The province is home to a wide range of attractions, from snow-capped mountains and lush rainforests to ancient towns and vibrant cities.

Fengyu Ancient Town, positioned along the Ancient Tea-Horse Road, boasts distinctive houses from the Ming, Qing, and Republic of China periods, making it the second-largest cluster of Bai ethnic buildings in China. Located in Yunnan Province, Fengyu Town, known as the "hometown of literature and ink," sits by the source of Erhai Lake, with a rich history and cultural heritage. Once praised as a "Peach Blossom Spring" by traveler Xu Xiake, it gained provincial recognition as a historical and cultural town in 2000.

Functioning as a crucial post station on the Ancient Tea-Horse Road, Fengyu witnessed historical trade routes from northwest Yunnan to Myanmar. Caravans still traverse Fengyu Street, showcasing remnants of its horse trade past. The well-preserved Fengyu Confucian Temple stands as a testament to the town's scholarly legacy.

Beyond the town lies an ancient post road leading to Luoping Mountain, revealing a historical narrative. Fengxiang Village marks the intersection of the Western Southern Silk Road and the Yunnan-Tibet Line, serving as the sole entry and exit for Yunnan-Tibet.

Yunnan’s climate in April is typically mild and pleasant. Expect temperatures ranging between 50°F (10°C) and 75°F (24°C) during the day, with cooler evenings. Rain is infrequent but possible, so it’s a good idea to prepare for variable weather conditions.

To ensure a comfortable and enjoyable retreat, consider packing the following essentials:

• Light clothing: Pack lightweight, breathable clothing suitable for warm days and cooler evenings. Layers are recommended due to temperature variations.
• Rain gear: Bring a compact umbrella or a waterproof jacket to stay dry during occasional rain showers.
• Comfortable shoes: You'll likely do a fair amount of walking, so comfortable walking shoes or hiking boots are recommended.
• Sun protection: Don't forget sunglasses, sunscreen, and a wide-brimmed hat to shield yourself from the sun.
• Medications: If you have specific medications or medical requirements, be sure to bring an ample supply.
• Adaptor: China uses Type A, C, and I plugs, so consider bringing a universal power adapter for your electronic devices.

Most international travelers will need a visa to enter China. Here's a general outline of the process:

• Type of Visa: Tourists typically apply for an L visa (tourist visa) for short visits to China.
• Application: Contact your nearest Chinese consulate or embassy to submit your visa application. Check their website for specific requirements and fees.
• Documents: Prepare your passport, visa application form, passport-sized photos, and any other documents as required. Ensure your passport has at least six months of validity beyond your planned departure date.
• Processing Time: Visa processing times can vary, so apply well in advance of your trip.

You will be responsible for the booking of your roundtrip international flight to Kunming, Yunnan. Our journey will begin on Saturday, April 12th, 2025. Please make sure when booking your international flight that you will be in Lijiang on this day. Our first day will be a day of leisure to allow us to recuperate from the flight.
